First step to change your blog into an online store

If you already decide to turn your wordpress blog into an online store than here is the first step to do it. You have two options if you want to do it. First you can change your theme that have an online store support built in it. Or you can use a plugin to do it.

Here is some option that I frequently use for my blog:

1. PresstaPress Themes
This theme is develop by brokencode. This man change the presta shop platform into a wordpress themes. Not all of the feature in presta shop exist in this themes. But if you only develop a small business e-commerce site than you should consider this theme as your choice.

Very easy to install, just like when you install an ordinary wordpress theme. it has a Javascript shopping chart and several choice of payment gateway.

2. Fatfreecart plugin
This one is a simple  plugin for a wordpress online store. It will set up an “add to cart” and “view cart” in your blog post. It is also have a cart widget for your sidebar. For each post the Fatfreecart plugin enables a product configuration panel where you can configure your product name and product options.

3. wp-ecommerce plugin
I think this one is the most complete feature for your online store. It use a page (not a post like fatfreecart) for its product section. You can set variation group, payment gateway, etc. But you need an extra attention if you want to use it.
